We read Uber’s Canadian membership terms and worked out the break-even for restaurant orders, grocery orders and rides. The math uses Uber’s own published minimums and Ontario’s 13% HST.

The short answer

Uber One is worth it in Canada if you place about three or more eligible restaurant orders of $15 or more a month. With a $2.99 delivery fee and a $30 subtotal, each order saves about $4.49, and the membership costs $11.29 a month with Ontario HST. If you order once or twice a month, or mostly spend under $15, you will likely pay more than you save.

Uber lists the price as $9.99 a month on its Canadian Uber One page, and its terms say applicable taxes apply in addition. Eligible first-time members can try it free for one month.

What you get for $9.99

  • $0 delivery fee on restaurant orders with a subtotal of $15 or more, at stores marked with the Uber One icon.
  • 5% off eligible restaurant orders, delivery or pickup, over the same $15 minimum.
  • $0 delivery fee on grocery and other non-restaurant orders of $40 or more, where available. The 5% off does not apply to these orders.
  • 5% back on eligible rides, paid as Uber One credits.

What it does not cover matters just as much. Uber says taxes and fees, including the service fee, still apply and do not count toward the order minimum, and the Uber Eats Uber One page lists the $15 and $40 minimums. Tips are not covered either. The minimum is calculated after other discounts, so a promo that drops your subtotal below $15 can cost you the free delivery.

The break-even, worked out

Each eligible restaurant order saves you two things: the delivery fee you would otherwise pay and 5% of the subtotal. Uber’s Uber One pages do not list a standard delivery fee, and the app shows the fee for each order. So the table uses a range of delivery fees as inputs, all with a $30 subtotal.

Uber One break-even by delivery fee, $30 restaurant order, Ontario HST
Delivery fee in the app Saved per $30 order Exact break-even Orders a month needed
$1.99 $3.49 3.23 orders 4
$2.99 $4.49 2.51 orders 3
$3.99 $5.49 2.06 orders 3
$4.99 $6.49 1.74 orders 2

Hypothetical examples, with savings = delivery fee + 5% of a $30 subtotal. Cost = $9.99 plus 13% HST ($11.29), and orders are rounded up to whole orders.

At a $2.99 fee, here is how the savings build up against the monthly cost.

Uber One monthly cost vs savings by number of ordersMonthly cost of Uber One in Ontario with 13% HST is $11.29. Savings from restaurant orders with a $30 subtotal and a $2.99 delivery fee: 1 order $4.49, 2 orders $8.98, 3 orders $13.47, 4 orders $17.96, 6 orders $26.94.Uber One, Ontario HST$11.291 order a month$4.492 orders a month$8.983 orders a month$13.474 orders a month$17.966 orders a month$26.94
Hypothetical savings per restaurant order: a $2.99 delivery fee waived plus 5% off a $30 subtotal, compared with the $9.99 monthly price plus 13% HST. Terms from Uber Canada, checked November 5, 2026. Chart by Gizly.

One order a month leaves you $6.80 behind. Two orders still leave you $2.31 short. The third order puts you $2.18 ahead, and six orders a month nets about $15.65.

Sales tax moves the line slightly

The $9.99 is before tax. Using the CRA GST/HST rates, it works out to $10.49 a month with 5% GST in Alberta, $11.29 with 13% HST in Ontario, and $11.49 with 15% HST in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and PEI. A year of monthly billing is $119.88 before tax, or $135.46 in Ontario.

Grocery orders: the math is tighter

On grocery and other non-restaurant orders you only save the delivery fee, and only on a subtotal of $40 or more. There is no 5% off. With a $2.99 delivery fee, you need four grocery orders a month to cover $11.29 in Ontario. At $1.99, it takes six.

If you get groceries delivered weekly through Uber Eats and your usual fee is $3 or more, the membership can pay on grocery orders alone. Every other week usually is not enough unless you also order restaurant food.

Rides: a small bonus, not a reason to join

The 5% back on rides comes as Uber One credits, calculated on the fare before taxes, tolls, surcharges and promotions. To earn back $11.29 a month from rides alone, you would need about $225.77 a month in eligible fares. For most people, ride credits only tip the balance when they already order food. If you cancel, unused credits expire at the end of the membership cycle.

Uber’s “save $22 a month” figure

Uber’s Canadian page says members could “save $22 every month,” based on average savings of members in Canada from promos and member pricing. Uber notes the figure does not include the subscription price, and it is an average across members, not a promise for your own order pattern. Your own order history is a better guide.

A two-minute check before you subscribe

Your Uber Eats order history shows everything you need.

  • Count last month’s eligible ordersRestaurant orders with a subtotal of $15 or more, and grocery orders of $40 or more.
  • Add up the delivery fees you paidThen add 5% of the subtotal on the restaurant orders only.
  • Compare with $9.99 plus your sales taxAbout $11.29 in Ontario. If you are clearly above it, the membership pays. If you are close, use the free trial month first.

Rules worth knowing before you join

These come from Uber’s Renewable Pass terms for Canada.

  • Cancel at least 48 hours before renewal. You can cancel in the app up to 48 hours before your next scheduled payment and keep benefits until the end of the billing cycle.
  • No refunds for partial months. Monthly payments are non-refundable and are not prorated when you cancel mid-cycle.
  • You can pause. Uber One can be paused up to four times per calendar year, and you are not charged while paused.
  • Free trials renew automatically. If you give payment details for a trial, the membership renews at the full price unless you cancel.
  • Price increases come with notice. Uber says it will give 30 days’ notice by email or in the app.
  • Benefits stay in Canada. They apply only in the country where you bought the membership.

The same rule applies to any subscription: count what you actually use. Our Amazon Prime break-even and five-year streaming cost guides use the same approach, and the Apple One break-even shows how a bundle compares with paying separately.

Who should and should not subscribe

Subscribe if you order restaurant delivery at least three times a month with subtotals of $15 or more, or get weekly grocery delivery of $40 or more, and the stores you use show the Uber One icon.

Skip it if you order once or twice a month, often order small items under $15, or usually order directly from restaurants. Pickup orders get 5% off but have no delivery fee to waive. On a $30 pickup order that is $1.50, so you would need about eight pickup orders a month to cover $11.29.
