We took the prices on Apple’s Canadian pages and tested every combination of services against each plan. Apple TV turns out to be the deciding service.
The short answer
Apple One Individual is worth it if you would pay for Apple TV plus either Apple Music or Apple Arcade. Apple TV and Apple Music together cost $26.98 a month on their own, so the $22.95 bundle saves you $4.03 a month, or $48.36 a year. If you do not want Apple TV, skip the bundle. Apple Music, Apple Arcade and 50GB of iCloud+ cost $22.27 a month separately, which is $0.68 less than Apple One.
For families, the same rule mostly holds. Apple One Family costs $30.95 and pays off with Apple Music Family and Apple TV. Premier at $46.95 only makes sense if you would also pay for Apple News+, or for both Apple Fitness+ and 2TB of storage.
What each Apple One plan costs and includes
Apple’s Apple One page for Canada lists three plans. Each one includes Apple TV, Apple Music and Apple Arcade. The amount of iCloud+ storage rises with the plan, and Premier adds Apple Fitness+ and Apple News+.
| Plan | Per month | Same services separately | Saving if you use all | Saving per year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Individual | $22.95 | $37.26 | $14.31 | $171.72 |
| Family | $30.95 | $47.96 | $17.01 | $204.12 |
| Premier | $46.95 | $86.94 | $39.99 | $479.88 |
Separate prices are Apple’s standard monthly prices as listed on the Apple One page. Storage is 50GB on Individual, 200GB on Family and 2TB on Premier, and Family and Premier share with up to five other people.
The full saving only counts if you would really pay for every service in the plan. Most people would not, so the useful question is which smaller set of services already costs more than the bundle.
The break-even for Apple One Individual
Here are the standalone prices Apple lists for the Individual plan’s services: Apple TV $14.99, Apple Music $11.99, Apple Arcade $8.99 and 50GB of iCloud+ $1.29 a month. We checked every combination against the $22.95 price.
| What you would pay for | Separately per month | Apple One difference | Per year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple TV and Apple Music | $26.98 | Saves $4.03 | Saves $48.36 |
| Apple TV and Apple Arcade | $23.98 | Saves $1.03 | Saves $12.36 |
| Apple Music, Apple Arcade and iCloud+ | $22.27 | Costs $0.68 more | Costs $8.16 more |
| Apple TV and iCloud+ | $16.28 | Costs $6.67 more | Costs $80.04 more |
| Apple Music and iCloud+ | $13.28 | Costs $9.67 more | Costs $116.04 more |
Monthly prices from Apple Canada; iCloud+ here is the 50GB plan at $1.29. Yearly figures are 12 times the monthly difference. Sales tax applies to both sides, so it does not change which option is cheaper.
The pattern is simple. Apple TV is the most expensive piece, so any combination that costs more than Individual has to include it. Pair it with Apple Music and you clearly come out ahead. Pair it with Apple Arcade and you save $1.03 a month.
If you need more than 50GB of storage
Individual only includes 50GB. Apple’s iCloud storage support page says that if your current iCloud+ plan is bigger than what Apple One includes, you keep it and the storage is combined. So someone paying $3.99 for 200GB would pay $26.94 a month in total for Apple One Individual plus that plan. That still beats $30.97 for Apple TV, Apple Music and 200GB bought separately.
The break-even for Apple One Family
Family costs $30.95 a month and shares everything with up to five other people. The standalone family prices Apple lists are Apple Music Family $19.99, Apple TV $14.99, Apple Arcade $8.99 and 200GB of iCloud+ $3.99.
- Apple Music Family and Apple TV: $34.98 separately. Family saves $4.03 a month.
- Apple Music Family, Apple Arcade and 200GB: $32.97 separately. Family saves $2.02 a month.
- Apple Music Family and Apple Arcade: $28.98 separately. Family costs $1.97 more.
- Apple Music Family and 200GB: $23.98 separately. Family costs $6.97 more.
One detail changes the math for households. Apple’s Apple One support page says Apple TV, Apple Arcade and iCloud+ on an Individual plan can be shared through Family Sharing. Only Apple Music cannot. If just one person in your home uses Apple Music, Individual at $22.95 may cover everyone for less.
When Premier is worth the extra $16
Premier costs $46.95, which is $16 more than Family. For that you get Apple Fitness+, Apple News+ and 2TB of storage instead of 200GB. Compared with Family plus the extras you would actually buy:
- Family plus Apple News+ ($16.99): $47.94. Premier saves $0.99 a month.
- Family plus Apple Fitness+ ($12.99): $43.94. Family is $3.01 cheaper.
- Family plus a 2TB iCloud+ plan ($12.99): $43.94 for 2.2TB in total. Family is $3.01 cheaper.
- Family plus Fitness+ and 2TB: $56.93. Premier saves $9.98 a month.
So Premier pays off if you would subscribe to Apple News+, or to two of the three Premier extras. If you want only one of Fitness+ or extra storage, Family plus that one add-on is cheaper.
Students should usually skip it
Apple Music for post-secondary students costs $5.99 a month, according to Apple’s Apple Music page. Apple’s student subscription support page says the student plan includes Apple TV content for a limited time, though availability varies by country or region. The student price lasts up to 48 months, and you have to verify your status once a year.
Even if you paid the full $14.99 for Apple TV, Apple Music Student and Apple TV come to $20.98 a month. That is $1.97 less than Apple One Individual. A student only gains from the bundle by also paying for Apple Arcade.
What happens when you switch
- Existing subscriptions are cancelled for you. Apple says services included in your plan are cancelled when you are billed for Apple One, with a prorated refund. iCloud+ is the exception.
- The free month only covers new services. Apple’s terms say the trial includes only services you are not already using through a trial or subscription.
- No trial if it is already cheaper. If Apple One costs less than what you pay now, Apple moves you over straight away without a trial.
- Storage can stack. Apple One storage and an iCloud+ plan can add up to 14TB in total.
- It renews monthly. Apple says the plan renews automatically until you cancel.
Paying for subscriptions with a cash back card is another small way to cut the cost. Our cash back card comparison lists the earn rates for 15 cards.

- Only look at Premier if you want News+Or if you would pay for both Fitness+ and 2TB of storage.
Frequently asked questions
Is Apple One worth it in Canada?
Apple One Individual costs $22.95 a month. It is cheaper than paying separately once you would pay for Apple TV plus Apple Music or Apple Arcade. Without Apple TV, the three other services cost $22.27 a month on their own, so the bundle does not save you money.
