Is Prime Big Deal Days Actually Cheaper? We Checked 47 Amazon.ca Deals Before and During the Event
Amazon’s October sale promises some of its lowest prices of the year. We checked. Of 47 Amazon.ca products Gizly had already posted as deals in the two weeks before the event, 14 got cheaper on day two of Prime Big Deal Days, 23 cost exactly the same, and 10 cost more.

Prime Big Deal Days 2026 ran October 6 and 7 in Canada. Between September 22 and October 3 we posted 49 Amazon.ca deals on Gizly, each with the price we saw that day. On October 7 we opened every one of those product pages again and wrote down the price shown. Two were dropped because Amazon now showed a different size or pack than the one we posted, which left 47 like-for-like comparisons. Here is what we found.
The short answer
For most products, the price you saw in late September was the Prime Big Deal Days price. Half of the 47 did not move at all. Where the event did cut further, the extra saving was usually small: $8.50 at the median, about $19 on average, with the biggest cuts on robot vacuums, a cordless vacuum and a power station.
Waiting was not free, either. Ten products cost more on October 7 than when we posted them, including two monitors that went back up by $72 and $200. Add it all up and buying all 47 at the earlier prices would have cost $123 less than buying all 47 on day two of the event.
Share of the 47 products by what happened to the price between our post date and October 7, 2026.
The 14 that got cheaper
These are the products where waiting paid off. The first price is what we posted in September or early October; the second is the Amazon.ca price on October 7.
Eight of the 14 are Anker or eufy products (eufy is an Anker brand). Anker cut further on the event days; most other brands held their September price.
The 10 that cost more
The other side of waiting. Two monitors had short-lived prices when we posted them and both went back to a much higher price within a week. The household items moved by $0.52 to $4.02, the kind of week-to-week change consumables often show on Amazon.
The 23 that did not move
Every one of these showed the same price on October 7 as on the day we posted it, give or take a cent. Amazon’s own devices stand out: the Fire TV Stick HD has been $22.99 since September 22, and the Kindle Colorsoft, Echo Spot and Ember TV all carried their event price two weeks early.
- Amazon Fire TV Stick HD$22.99
- Amazon Kindle Colorsoft, 16 GB$229.99
- Amazon Echo Spot$74.99
- Amazon Ember 55-inch 4-Series Fire TV$409.99
- Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones$478.00
- Roborock Qrevo S Pro robot vacuum$549.99
- Samsung ViewFinity S8 40-inch monitor$999.99
- LG UltraWide 34U601 34-inch monitor$284.99
- Shark Navigator Lift-Away vacuum$199.99
- Bissell Little Green HydroSteam$189.99
- Braun Series 9 Pro+ shaver$299.99
- Braun Skin i-Expert IPL 7$487.49
- Braun MultiQuick 7 hand blender$99.99
- Ninja UltraCrush Pro kitchen system$199.99
- Ninja DualBrew Pro coffee system$199.99
- Ninja BlendBOSS personal blender$149.99
- Ninja BL481C Nutri-Ninja blender$89.99
- Henckels Definition 7-piece knife block$116.99
- Greenworks 48 V 17-inch cordless mower$299.99
- Liberty Garden 704 hose reel, 125 ft$164.97
- Stanley Heritage Classic vacuum bottle$46.00
- eos Shea Better body lotion$12.99
- Glad black garbage bags, 74 L$9.64
The LG 34U601 showed $284.98 and the Samsung ViewFinity $998.00 on October 7, a cent or two under our posted price. We count both as unchanged.
What this says about Prime Big Deal Days
The event starts early. Amazon and most big brands set their October prices in the last week of September and held them. If you saw a price you liked on Gizly on September 30, the odds it dropped further on October 7 were about three in ten, and the typical extra drop was under $10.
The exceptions were big-ticket Anker and eufy products. Robot vacuums, a cordless stick vacuum and a power station lost another $40 to $60 during the event. On items over $500 it was worth waiting; on items under $150 it rarely was.
Short-lived prices do not come back for the event. The LG and Samsung monitor prices from late September were gone within a week, and Prime Big Deal Days did not bring them back. If a price has a countdown on it, do not assume the event is a safety net.
Household basics were cheaper before the event. Detergent, coffee and paper towel all cost a little more on October 7. The event did nothing for them.
What it would have cost to buy everything
A simple way to see the whole picture: imagine buying all 47 items once, either on the day we posted each one or on October 7.
Bought at our posted prices
$123less in total
- Paid more than event price on 14 items+$267.90
- Paid less than event price on 10 items−$391.33
- Same price on 23 items$0
Bought on October 7
$123more in total
- Extra saving on the 14, average$19.14
- Extra saving on the 14, median$8.50
- Extra cost on the 10, median$7.50
The $200 monitor swing drives that total. Take it out and buying on October 7 comes out about $77 ahead across the other 46 products. Either way the gap is small. On this evidence, the event and the two weeks before it were close to a wash.
How to shop the rest of a sale event
Three rules that would have beaten waiting on this sample.
- Buy on the first good priceAmazon lets you return most items within 30 days. If the price falls further before you open the box, a return and rebuy is still an option.
- Treat countdowns as finalShort-lived prices did not return for the event. If the item has a timer and the price history shows it is a low, decide now.
- Watch Anker and eufy on the event daysThey were the one brand family that cut deeper on the day. Robot vacuums and power stations were the best place to wait.
How we did this, and the limits
We started from Gizly’s own records: every Amazon.ca deal we posted between September 22 and October 3, 2026, with the price Amazon showed on the day we posted it. On October 7, the second day of Prime Big Deal Days, we opened each product page on Amazon.ca from Canada and recorded the price shown. We excluded two products (Sharpie markers and an Iron Flask bottle) because the page now defaulted to a different pack size or colour than the one we had posted.
- This is a sample of deals, not of Amazon. These 47 products were already discounted when we posted them. The question we can answer is whether the event beat the good prices that came before it, not whether the event beat regular prices.
- One snapshot. Prices on Amazon.ca move during the day. A Lightning deal that ran for a few hours on October 6 would not show up here.
- Prime pricing. Some event prices are for Prime members only. If you are not a member you may see a higher price on a few of these items.
- Small sample. 47 products is enough to see a pattern, not to put a precise number on Amazon’s whole catalogue.
Frequently asked questions
Were Prime Big Deal Days prices lower than Amazon’s September deals?
Mostly no. Of 47 Amazon.ca products we had posted as deals between September 22 and October 3, 2026, only 14 were cheaper on October 7. The typical extra saving on those 14 was $8.50. Twenty-three cost the same and 10 cost more.
Which products got cheaper during Prime Big Deal Days 2026?
The biggest extra cuts were on the eufy C28 Omni ($59.99 less), Shark PowerDetect cordless vacuum ($50 less), eufy X10 Pro Omni ($50 less) and Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 ($40 less). Most other cuts were $4 to $10.
Why did some prices go up during the sale?
Two monitors had short-lived prices in late September and returned to their usual price within a week. Household items such as detergent, coffee and paper towel moved up by a few dollars or cents, which is normal week-to-week movement for consumables on Amazon.
Do I need Prime to get Prime Big Deal Days prices?
Most event deals are for Prime members. Amazon.ca offers a 30-day free trial to new members, and you can cancel before it ends.
How did Gizly check these prices?
We compared the price recorded on each Gizly deal page when it was posted with the price shown on the same Amazon.ca product page on October 7, 2026. Two products with a changed default size or colour were excluded.
