Black Friday 2026 in Canada: Dates, Early Deals and How to Spot a Real Discount

Black Friday 2026 in Canada is Friday, November 27, and Cyber Monday is Monday, November 30. The day itself is no longer the start of the sale. Most big Canadian stores begin their Black Friday pricing in early November and run it through Cyber Monday, so the best price on something you want can show up weeks before the 27th.

That stretch is also when fake discounts are most common. When one analysis tracked more than 1,500 products last year, about a third of the “Black Friday deals” cost more than the same item had sold for earlier in the fall. This guide gives you the dates, what each store usually does, the deals that are at their lowest recorded price right now, and a simple way to check any deal before you buy.

When What happens
October 6 and 7 Amazon Prime Big Deal Days. A useful price benchmark: if a Black Friday price is not lower than the October price, it is not a better deal. See our Prime Big Deal Days guide.
Early November “Early Black Friday” sales begin. In 2025, Best Buy Canada started its early deals on November 3.
Around November 19 to 26 Main Black Friday events open online. In 2025, Best Buy Canada’s official sale ran November 20 to 30.
Friday, November 27 Black Friday. Store doorbusters, limited quantities, and a final round of price cuts on some items.
Monday, November 30 Cyber Monday. Online-only offers, often extended through Cyber Week to December 6.
Saturday, December 26 Boxing Day. Often better for TVs and appliances that did not sell in November.

Deals at the lowest price we’ve recorded

Gizly records the price of every deal each time we check it. These are live deals sitting at the lowest price we have seen for that product. This list updates on its own as prices change, so it is worth checking again as Black Friday gets closer.

One in three Black Friday deals last year wasn’t a deal

In 2025, the website monitoring company Visualping tracked the prices of more than 1,500 products at major retailers from the start of October to Cyber Monday. Here is what it found.

1 in 3Black Friday deals were no real saving, and were often more expensive than in October or early November.
37%How much higher, on average, those “deals” were than the lowest price the product had sold for.
61%Share of luggage deals that were not real. Microwaves were next at 50%. Backpacks (4%) and video games (14%) were the most honest.

Some examples were striking. A Dyson V15 on sale at Canadian Tire for Black Friday had been cheaper in mid-October. On the other side, Sony’s WH-1000XM4 headphones at Best Buy were a genuine deal, at $278 against a $429.99 regular price.

What the law says. The Competition Bureau warned retailers in November 2025 that a made-up “regular price” is illegal. To call a price “regular,” a store must show that more than half its sales were at that price or higher within a reasonable period (usually a year), or that it offered the item at that price in good faith for a substantial period. If you see a “was” price that never existed, you can report it to the Competition Bureau.

How to check any Black Friday deal in two minutes

  1. Look up the price history. On Gizly, every deal page shows the prices we have recorded and when we last checked. If the “deal” price matches a price from October, the discount is not new.
  2. Compare with Prime Big Deal Days. Many products were discounted on October 6 and 7. Black Friday should beat that price, not match it.
  3. Check the exact model number. Some TVs and appliances sold only at Black Friday are cut-down versions of a regular model, with a slightly different model number. Compare specs, not just the brand and size.
  4. Ignore the “was” price. Judge the price you pay against other stores today. Our deal pages compare that price with what we have recorded, not with the store’s own regular price.
  5. Set a price alert. If a deal is not good enough yet, set an alert on the deal page and we will email you if the price drops.

What each big Canadian store usually does

Exact 2026 dates are usually announced a week or two ahead. This is what each store has done in recent years, so you know when to start watching.

Amazon.ca

Amazon runs a multi-day Black Friday event in the week before Black Friday, with new deals added daily and many prices staying through Cyber Monday. Prices on Amazon move often, so price history matters more here than anywhere. Read our Amazon.ca return guide for holiday return windows.

Best Buy Canada

Best Buy usually starts the earliest. In 2025 it opened early deals on November 3 and its main Black Friday sale ran November 20 to 30. TVs, headphones, laptops and gaming are its strongest categories. See the Best Buy return and price match guide.

Walmart Canada

Walmart publishes a Black Friday flyer that typically starts the day before Black Friday and runs into the following week, with some deals online first. Check our weekly flyers page once it is out, and the Walmart return guide.

Costco

Costco runs Black Friday savings in the warehouse and online, usually with limited quantities. Warehouse prices and online prices can differ, and most deals need a membership. See the Costco return guide.

Canadian Tire

Canadian Tire tends to stretch Black Friday into a longer event and often teases early deals well before the week itself. Its “regular” prices are worth checking closely, as the Dyson example above shows. See the Canadian Tire return guide.

The Home Depot

Home Depot’s Black Friday focuses on tools, holiday lights and decor, and appliances. Tool kits with extra batteries are often the best value. See the Home Depot return guide.

What to buy on Black Friday, and what to skip

Usually worth it Be careful
TVs from last year’s lineup, often at their lowest price of the year Luggage and microwaves, which had the highest share of fake deals in 2025
Headphones and earbuds from Sony, Apple, Bose and Samsung Black Friday-only TV models with different model numbers
Robot vacuums and cordless stick vacuums Phones launched in the past two months, which rarely drop much
Smart home devices such as speakers, doorbells and cameras Bundles padded with accessories you would not buy on their own
Power tool kits with extra batteries Anything with a “was” price you cannot find anywhere

Paying for it without regret

  • Set a list and a number before November. A deal on something you did not plan to buy is not a saving.
  • Pay with a card that adds protection. Many Canadian credit cards include purchase protection against theft or damage and extend the manufacturer’s warranty. Check your card’s benefits before you buy a store warranty.
  • Be careful with buy now, pay later. Splitting a purchase into payments is easy, but missed payments can bring fees, and several plans stacked together add up quickly.
  • Keep receipts and know the return window. Many stores extend returns for holiday purchases, but the rules differ by store and by category.
  • Put the savings to work. If you budgeted $500 and spent $350, move the difference to a high-interest savings account.

Frequently asked questions

When is Black Friday 2026 in Canada?

Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27. Cyber Monday is Monday, November 30, and many online deals continue through Cyber Week to December 6.

When do Black Friday sales start in Canada?

Most big retailers start in early November. In 2025, Best Buy Canada opened early deals on November 3 and ran its main sale from November 20 to 30. Expect a similar pattern in 2026, with most main events opening the week before November 27.

Are Black Friday deals in Canada real?

Most are, but not all. A 2025 analysis of more than 1,500 products found that about one in three Black Friday deals was no cheaper than earlier in the fall. Check a product’s price history before you buy.

Is Black Friday or Boxing Day better in Canada?

Black Friday usually has the widest range of discounts, especially on electronics. Boxing Day can be better for TVs, appliances and clothing that did not sell in November. If the price is already at its lowest recorded level on Black Friday, there is little reason to wait.

Is it illegal to fake a regular price in Canada?

Yes. Under the Competition Act, a store can only call a price “regular” if most sales were at that price or higher, or if it was offered at that price in good faith for a substantial period, usually within a year. You can report misleading sales to the Competition Bureau.

Store dates for 2026 are based on what each retailer did in recent years and will be updated as stores announce their plans. Prices change often, so check the final price at checkout.
