Deals we’d skip
Two robot vacuums from bObsweep are showing 75% and 77% off at Best Buy this week, at $229.99 and $299.99. Those percentages are measured against regular prices of $999.99 and $1,179.99, which is far more than similar robots normally sell for. The sale prices may still be fair for what you get, but the “savings” are much smaller than they look. As a rule, be wary of any discount over 70% and compare the sale price against similar products instead.
How to choose a vacuum
Upright, stick or robot?
- Upright (corded): the most cleaning power for the money, no battery to replace. Best for carpet and large homes.
- Cordless stick: light and quick, great for daily pickups and apartments. Runtimes drop sharply on max power, so treat the quoted minutes as a best case.
- Robot: keeps floors tidy between proper cleans. Pick one with LiDAR mapping, and a self-emptying dock if you have pets.
- Wet/dry cleaner: vacuums and mops at once. Best for kitchens and hard floors.
Pet hair
Look for anti-tangle or de-tangling brush rolls. Hair wrapped around a brush roll is the most common complaint in pet owners’ reviews.
Allergies
Look for sealed or whole-machine HEPA filtration, and consider a self-emptying model so you are not releasing dust each time you empty the bin.
When to buy in Canada
Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days runs October 6 and 7, and Best Buy usually matches with its own sale the same week.
